"Preferred Roaming List" Basically a set of instructions that your phone follows when using a roaming signal. Sprint told me it selects the tower with the lowest rate/minute to minimize Sprint's roaming costs (on Alltell/Verizon towers).

I have no idea how this would improve reception on Sprint's network, or for that matter, data speeds, but people swear up and down it does. Who knows.
