The 5500 comes with the additional stereo earbud AND the Equalizer software.
The stereo earbud for me, is worthless since it's a tethered wire with audio jack on it. However, the Equalizer control over the Phone volume gain and earpiece sound adjustments is very useful if you need/want to change them. According to the docs, the 5000 doesn't come with this.
The volume is better than my H500 and H850. Primarily because of the in-ear bud on the unit, and because I used the Equalizer to boost the earpiece and the microphone gain.
If you do try it, I recommend picking it up from a place where you can return it if you don't like the fit/feel of it. Fo someone like me who hasn't used in-ear buds before, it takes some getting used to.
