Thanks to Sean48238. I downloaded the wav file editor he mentions, and then used it to cut out about 1/3 of the beginning of the sound, and applied a 250Hz high-pass filter. The file shurnk to 121K, and the difference in sound is not significant to me - it's the end of the sound that I "remember" and identify with the action.
