... ok never mind, got it fixed today. Drove 3 hours to a sprint corp market and hit a service center. They got vision working on my 6601 in about 3 hours, they found it was nothing to do with the PDA (like the lady that called back for the trouble ticket said - figured she was wrong)... but instead they had to re-do the vision settings on the account itself on their end.
Just posting this incase anyone else comes across this problem.
