So I did the following hacks from this thread:

1. Moved IE cache/history/cookies to storage card
2. Changed FATFS cache to 4MB
3. Changed GLYPHCACHE to 16MB

After making these changes, IE would just quit when connecting to web pages. First it happened intermittenly. Then with more frequency to the point where IE wouldn't launch the home page before crashing. Turning off view images helped a little, but not much.

I reversed the FATFS cache back to 0, and that helped to the point where I could get the first page, but if I tried to navigate to a link, IE would quit.

I reversed the glyphcache and now all is well. No quitting.

There was a bit of a speed up overall fromthose two hacks, but the loss of IE was unacceptable for the tiny speed-up I saw.

This is just my experience. YMMV.
