Boe, some software you may have installed may activate a data connectionon its own. My RSS reader does and I believe a today weather plugin I used to have installed also initiated a data connection, however this only happens when the PDA is powered up......but because the idiotic way my phone spontaneously turns itself on every 10 minutes when I've got the bluetooth radio turned on, I miss alot of calls.
Unlike Ehud's example of bluetooth perfection, my phone does not play nice with my car: 2004 Acura TL. Out of 4 phones (2 previous SE phones and my wife's current V710), this is the only bluetooth phone that hasn't worked flawlessly with the car. I've tried the various patches with little success. 3900 works no better than the (I believe) 3100 my phone shipped with--actually works worse. I still am unable to initiate a phone call using my car's handsfree link, but I can receive/answer calls.....however after 2 minutes into a conversation the bluetooth connection is lost, every time without fail....at least my phone doesn't hang up on the caller when that happens.
For me, the bluetooth function of the phone is worthless when I need it most: with my car. Sure, I use my HP Bluetooth Stereo headphones--they work OK, and so does my Jabra BT-200 headset....but almost perfect ain't perfect. I like the phone, but I would never rely on it as a communication device that is critical to earning a living. It's a toy, nothing more.
