Been away on a trip so am having to 'catch up' on recent posts. That said...
I recently updated to what's in my sig (E: Thanks for the info / posts / web site / DLs, etc) & been happy w/it. FWIW, the best part is I now have a complete document on what I have installed, in what order, configurations, registrations, etc, and I keep it up. Geez! This PDA is looking more & more like the written procedures I use to install W2k & other layered software (e.g., Oracle, web stuff, app svr stuff, etc).
But on to the topic at hand: Shortly after I hard-reset then installed, I noticed the same thing. Then I saw data link was up (in a 1xrtt area w/a data pkg). Turns out wireless active sync was running by default. So I had to config it to not run. It's still there (didn't uninstall as someone suggested).
I assume when E said to search (which I did

), he meant I'd get the info I was looking for. Turns out searching for 'dormant' yielded more than my specific issue (e.g., wireless sync triggering the data link going up). I also read about Sprint's 10-call tower stuff as well. While that was Sprint related, I could also see why VZW might have a similar problem as well, I guess.
Good info. Again, thanks all for the informative posts. Really is a help.
