OK--I am in DESPERATE need of a new phone...so I have been heavily researching a new PDA phone. I travel about 60% of my work time, and a PDA/phone will be perfect for me. I am a *sigh* Sprint user, so that leaves it limited.
After quite a few phone calls, stops at Best Buy and Sprint stores, I have discovered these *facts*:
Sprint will be releasing the Audiovox PPC-6600 W/camera (1.0 mp, with LCD flash 480x640 res) on
FEBRUARY 18th 2005. This was told to me by the PDA Product specialist when I called Sprint HQ. She said that it *DOES* have Wi-Fi, but it will be somehow disabled via Sprint--they don't want leechers using it as a modem is the motive that I have discovered.
The phone is expected to have some glitches--comes with the territory though, because it truly is the first MEGA phone/PC. The Bluetooth problem will be fixed, I was told by the product specialist.
As far as a car charger and extra battery go--FORGET ABOUT IT! I was hoping they would add these items to the box, but nope!
So my dillema is this: My "Sprint $150 rebate" isn't applicable until June, 2005 (At 18 months of loyal service, they give you a rebate for a new phone). I want this phone NOW though--so I figured this scenario out:
If I pay to "cancel" my Sprint phone service now, it will cost me $150 for "Early Termination". However, when this phone is out, I believe I will be able to get a "New Subscriber Line" discount price, just like EVERYONE does when they purchase their first phone. From what I saw for the PPC 6601, the list price was $629. However, after rebates and savings, you could get it for $349!! (This WAS on the Sprint website until yesterday, they pulled the info off on the PPC-6601). That's $280 off the list price. With my "rebate", it would be $480--a big difference. The other thing is that the PPC-6600 is going to cost $649 I believe.
Does this make sene?!?!?! I might be a little crazy...
