How do I set up Dialup Networking of Laptop over Bluetooth?

-- PPC-6601: You must apply a one of the patches first.

-- 1) Establish a bluetooth link with your PC for ActiveSync
-- 2) Once that happens the PC should detect a bluetooth Modem

How do I reestablish ActiveSync over Bluetooth (Assuming XP w/SP2) ?

-- 1) Go into ActiveSync and Delete all Partnerships (with everything disconnected)
-- 2) Sometimes it's easier to Establish a new PartnerShip over USB first (but not required).
-- 3) Delete all PDA Devices in Bluetooth Manager on PC
-- 4) Delete all Bluetooth COM Ports and Modems in Device Manager and Reboot PC (View Hidden Devices too see them) [this step not always required]
-- 5) Make sure PPC can be discovered

XV6600 How can I use the buttons to toggle phone on and off?

-- The only way to turn the phone on and off is by pressing the icon for the signal strength (the bars) and then selecting "Flight Mode".

What kind of battery life should I expect?

-- It varies a lot. It seems to improve over time. Most people get by. Expect to full charge every night.
-- Tips:
-- 1) Cut back screen brightness on battery. The default setting is pretty bright and chews up battery.
-- 2) Keep bluetooth off if not needed. It has been known to turn device on randomly. Don't know if Verizon patch fixes this.
-- 3) Shut off IR is not used.
-- 4) Keep minimal timeout.
-- 5) Watch out for data applications (e.g. IM, email) that pole frequently.

Can I get an Extended Battery?

-- HTC (Manufacturer) says no plans.

Why is my screen keep turning on by itself?

-- Most agree the most common cause is Bluetooth being on (and likely a bug that will get fixed).
-- Next most common reason is an application waking up doing its thing.
-- Patches fix the Bluetooth issue.

Can USB Charge the phone?

-- Yes !!
-- In a pinch you can split your kit up and use the Cradle at work to Charge and Sync.
-- Then keep the A/C Adapter with Dongle at home. And use Bluetooth to Sync at Home. Or some other combo.
-- The power-plug is however used to charge a second battery in the cradle if you have one.
-- Be aware some USB ports are weak on current and you might overload it.

Why no WIFI on the CDMA models?

-- It is believed CDMA radio is larger and uses more power.
-- Wifi sucks battery down real fast too.
-- CDMA (EVDO) also can run at 500mb over cellular airwaves without the Wifi HotSpot charges.
-- So there is less need for WIFI in the CDMA phone.
-- Some believe it's to sell more Cellular based Data Minutes.

Why no Camera on some models?

-- It is believed that there is a class of business customers that prefer not have the camera based phone due to policies involved with their work.
-- Companies that involve Government, Military, Classified, Intellectual Property etc. ban cameras and therefore take their phone and PDA away.

How do I enable the Speaker Phone?

-- To enable or disable hold green Talk button for 5 seconds or so during the call.
