Well, it really is a different world out there...
which struck me today when I was reading <a href="http://www.americasnetwork.com/americasnetwork/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=92334">an interview with Nokia's CDMA general manager</a>, in which he remarked only the US requires AGPS receiver inclusion in phones, which drives up our wireless handset cost significantly.
I guess we are rich enough to demand the tech which can make <a href="http://www.cs.fsu.edu/research/reports/TR-030404.pdf">E911</a> work (although not driven enough to make sure the <a href="http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,58485,00.html?tw=wn_story_related">funding for E911 doesn't get stolen away </a> for other uses <a href="http://www.wirelessweek.com/index.asp?layout=document&doc_id=130893&verticalid=34&vertical=Business+and+Finance&industry=&text=e911"> by state governments).</a>. Only <a href="http://www.wirelessweek.com/article/CA374745?stt=001&text=e911">five of the fifty states</a> in the Union are 100% ready, five years after the E911 mandate was announced.
See how your home state and county are doing <a href="http://nena.ddti.net">here<a/>..
