from what you describe, it seem to me that your phone is faulty...there might be a problem with the circuit that allows the battery to get recharged.....
if your phone is brand new, there's no reason why you will not be able to get it fixed or even replaced under warranty...if you got it 2nd hand...well...i guess you will need to invest a bit more into it.
to my knowlede, the Px00 range is pretty good with its battery usage.
