Hey, John, I'm curious about this (this is a serious question, not anymore of my trash-talkin'): how do the movies look on the i7? Maybe this is a better post in the i7 forum, but since you brought it up, I thought I'd ask. Is the sound good as well (granted, the headphones must deliver in that area too)? Is it choppy at all? How long does the battery last when watching a converted DVD?
Actually, the movies look suprisingly good, but not as good as on newer non-pda phones. It's the best I've seen on a PDAPhone, but I haven't tried the Hitachi G1000. The i700 has a 300mHz processor, so I have to overclock the device, but I am able to get 250kb compression (I've don'e more, but the file size is too big). At this bitrate the audio sounds excellent, but the video suffers a little pixelation. The i700 comes with an extended battery that easily gets through a 2 hour movie. I don't think it would make it on the smaller battery, though.

The screen is exceptionally bright when used indoors, and pretty lousy outdoors, so I usually have my airplane window shut. The main problem is PocketPC 2002 with its old Windows Media Player--the video studders a little about once every 2 seconds, even on very low bitrate movies. I've been told Windows Mobile 2003 would take care of this. I've also been told that using Pocket DivX is much smoother, but all my videos are in WMA format.

Honestly I think I've just given up watching DVDs on this phone ever since I read this last week about smooth 640x480 support!
