Fine, but there are a lot of threads being unnecessarily (IMO) moved from "Kyocera 7135 | 7135 Discussion" to the "Off topic | General discussion" forum. Threads that clearly qualify as "7135 Discussion - General Discussion. Anything goes".

Just how does a thread on "should I return my 7135?" not qualify there? Or a thread discussing a review of the 7135?

Perhaps the moderators are using some strange new definitions of "7135", "General", "discussion", or "anything" that I'm not aware of?

Perhaps the real rules for the "7135 Discussion" forum could be spelled out somewhere, so that posters could make fewer mistakes when they create new threads? Whatever the rules are they're clearly more restrictive than any ordinary interpretation of "7135 Discussion - General Discussion. Anything goes" would lead a reasonable person to believe.

I'd think the "off topic | general discussion" forum was for things not pertaining to the 7135 or 6035. Things like other phones, other mobile phone technologies, and so on. The trouble is that many of the threads recently moved from "7135 Discussion" most certainly do pertain to the 7135. Moving them violates a fundamental principle of organization of information (not just discussion forums): You want to keep threads in the most specifically chartered forum where they fit; it's almost never a good idea to move a thread from a more-specific forum to a less-specific one, unless it clearly doesn't fit where it is.

By the way, I have a lot of experience in moderating discussion forums too. My experience led me to believe that moving a thread because you think it will get a better response is almost always a bad idea; as a matter of fact, moving a thread often results in killing it, as the original participants don't necessarily check up on its new home. Even if they follow the link to the new thread, that doesn't mean they check up on it after that, because the link in the old forum doesn't show when there are later responses. On the forums I worked on the conclusion was that a thread should only be moved if it is clearly out of place for the charter of its original home.

Maybe by the moderators. But not by the readers and potential responders. Readers tend to pick a few topic headings and follow them, and check up on the others occasionally if ever. You need to email not just the original poster, but also everyone else who posted in the moved thread.

And even with an explanatory email, having a thread you started, or even responded to, get moved, does not feel good. To a lot of posters it feels like a form of censorship; to some others it feels like being told "you did something wrong", even if it's just "we thought this other forum would be a better fit."

In particular a LOT of the threads moved recently have been not completely pro-7135, some have been outright critical... and the result feels to me like the moderators are trying to shunt all those negative opinions away from the main 7135 area of the site. Even if this isn't the case (and I'd like to believe it isn't), this is a bad impression to give, or even take a small risk of giving.
