Nursing = Good
Sleeping with newborn baby = BAD!! BAD!! BAD!!
I grew up raising babies (nearly 100 foster babies in 16 years). It makes me cringe every time I hear this "advice". Just in the last couple of weeks there was another story in the news of an infant who dies while sleeping in bed with the well-intending parents.
If you really feel the need to be close, put the crib in your room, but please don't sleep with the baby in your bed. Not only can this cause attachment issues (more correctly, over-attachment issues) it is also very dangerous. Just think about two (or even one) unconscious 125+ lb. adults vs. one tiny little 8-10 lb. baby and you can understand the risks.
