To answer your questions:
>>do you see the "screensaver" with the car and the city scape in the back?<<
Yes, when I hit the phone botton (bottom on right side) I see the phone pad for an instant, then the "screensaver". If I click on the car it asks if I want to turn the phone back on. On occasion, since this started, when I hit the phone button, the phone wakes up with the phone pad showing and the antenna looking like there is a good signal, but when I key in a phone number, there are no tones and when I hit talk, I get the message "Can't dial when phone is turned off" or something to that effect.
>>did yu install anything just prior to this happening?<<
This seemed to start after one of my relatively frequent (every couple of weeks) FATAL ERRORS requiring a reset, but nothing had been recently installed.
>>did you sync the phone with an old palm?<<
When I first got the phone, I did sync using the set up of my old palm and this is the setup I have used ever since. But it has been over two months of using the phone with setup and this problem just started.
>>the low batt note is for the external battery, not internal...<<
The tech support people at Samsung seemed to feel that the specific message I was getting "Phone is in low battery" related to the internal battery. I don't think I mentioned this but I have this same problem (phone turning off) even if it is sitting in its sync/charging cradle.
Do these answers help pin this down? I do think, based on the notes I've seen here, that I should try hard reseting the phone and then loading up the programs individually instead of doing a full restore, since the original loading was based on my old palm. It sounds like you'd agree with this.
Thanks
